Dollars to Donuts: Week Five NFL Picks

We didn’t hit that coveted perfect record with our picks last week, but we were pleased to provide you with 9 winners against 4 losers, bringing us to a 36-22-1 record on the season. Not bad for picking against the spread.

Last week’s picks included such surprising winners as Washington, Houston, and Kansas City. Let’s see how we fare this week.

TJI’s picks are in bold. Spreads provided by Yahoo! as of Saturday afternoon…

BUF @ ARI (-1)

KC @ CAR (-9.5)

CHI (-3.5) @ DET

CIN @ DAL (-16.5)

TB @ DEN (-3)

IND (-3) @ HOU

PITT @ JAX (-4)

NE (-3) @ SF

SEA (-7) @ NYG

WASH @ PHI (-6)

SD (-6.5) @ MIA

TENN (-3) @ BAL

MIN @ NO (-3)

There’s 14 solid picks for you. The Atlanta @ Green Bay game is listed as “off the board,” but just for the record, we like Green Bay, with or without Rodgers.

Now, as for our special college picks of the week, we didn’t do so hot. Penn State did not cover the 15.5 points, and Georgia was upset in Athens by the Tide. We did, though, hit a home run with the Bowling Green over Wyoming pick. The Falcons won going away, easily covering the 3 points in Laramie. So should we go to the well one more time, just for fun (which is all these picks are for by the way, right???)? Why not?

Take Alabama (-15.5) at home over Kentucky, Ohio State (-1) over Wisconsin in Madison, and take the points that home underdog Oregon is getting (+16) against the Trojans of USC. And we’ll add a couple small school picks, too…ride the Falcons one more time and take Bowling Green (-20.5) over the Eagles of Eastern Michigan. And although it seems like piling on the Cowboys, takeĀ New Mexico (-11.5) at home over Wyoming. Viva los Lobos!

Good luck to you all. We’ve gotta run so this gets posted before noon!
