From the Mailroom: Week Five Fantasy Advice and More
Lots of good email questions this week. Remember, TJI guarantees a response. We chose three of the many that flooded our inbox to feature today, so let’s get to it…
Asher asks: Who should I start? Issac Bruce, Muhsin Muhammad, or Antwaan Randle El?
Gotta go with Muhammed here. The Patriots D should keep Bruce under wraps, and they want to make a statement after their week three embarassment. We like the ‘Skins this year, and they might just win this game, but Randle El is too inconsistent. Surprisingly, Muhammed has been playing well and is worthy of the start here. He is getting a ton of looks from his old buddy Delhomme, even with Smith back. And, he’s facing off against a rookie corner this week against KC. Start the Moose with confidence. Good luck.
Eric writes: I was offered Calvin Johnson and Jonathan Stewart for Adrian Peterson. What do you think? Does this trade help me more than it hurts? We start three WRs, and mine are (before the trade): Larry Fitzgerald, Desean Jackson and Amani Toomer (ugh). We start 2 RBs and a WR/RB flex: Peterson, Earnest Graham, LenDale White, Jerious Norwood, Tim Hightower, Justin Fargas.
Just say NO to this offer. You’d be giving up your first round pick for a rookie RB and a receiver on a dreadful team. Peterson has underperformed, but it’s early. Stewart is solid, but he’s still sharing carries. And if Detroit decides to bench Kitna to give their youngsters a try-out, Johnson’s value plummets. If you’re going to move Peterson, you’re going to want to target a more solid WR/RB combo than that. Look at guys like Portis or Addai or Barber. Which team in your league is off to a bad start? Maybe they’d be willing to do a 2-for-1 for Peterson. But the only way to part with him is in exchange for studs. At least that’s our take. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
John writes: “Like Sarah Palin dodging any and all questions during Thursday’s debate, we’re avoiding all questions regarding our performance in these little start or sit columns.” Are you kidding me? I look for football info here, not your political rhetoric - especially when your on the wrong side. I just cancelled your email subscription, thank you. I’ll stick to the sites that offer football info.

John, we feel badly that our little tongue-in-cheek comment bothered you so much. Hopefully, you’re (not your) going to reconsider cancelling your subscription. We feel that TJI is the best choice for fantasy football analysis. Kind of like Obama-Biden is the best choice Nov. 4. (Just kidding, we couldn’t resist. Seriously, we’re kidding.)

Now that’s not the first hate mail we’ve ever gotten, but it was definitely one of the strangest.
So if you’ve got any requests for fantasy analysis or any right wing rants, we’d love to hear from you. Remember, it’s tji.fantasy @ gmail.com . Good luck in Week Five!
