Mad Adds: Five Fantasy Free Agent Fixes

The time is now to start believing in TJI. Our picks have been solid. We’re hitting our stride and, hopefully, earning your trust as a must read in the world of fantasy football analysis and advice.

And so we bring you another installment of “Mad Adds,” our weekly look at the best waiver wire pick-ups.

Let’s get right to it…

DeAngelo Williams–RB–CAR

Yeah, it was us that told you to sit him. We’ll own up to that. But he’s definitely going to be the number one guy off the wire this week. And we’re here to say take him…if you’re desperate. It’s pretty much a given that Williams was going to have one huge game. The guy is talented. But this doesn’t change the fact that he’s in a time share with Johnathan Stewart. And then there’s the whole Chiefs thing. Aunt Jemima could rack up 100 and a score against that defense. We just thought it would be Stewart that would benefit. And that’s the thing, you never know. So unless there’s no where else for you to turn and/or you have a really strong stomach, we can’t recommend Williams that strongly. In fact, we’re only including him in this column because they’d revoke our membership in the Fantasy Football Writers Association if we didn’t.

Mike Walker

Now here’s a guy we like a lot more. He had a break out game Sunday, topping 100 yards against a tough Pittsburgh secondary. He’s got a dependable QB. And they aren’t exactly teeming with WR options down there in Jacksonville. All that adds up to some very nice circumstances, circumstances ripe for a sleeper. Try him as a bye-week fill-in and you just might want to keep him around.

Devin Hester

Don’t look now but the speedy return man turned receiver is starting to find his rhythm in the developing Bears’ offense. Ten fantasy points in Week five means he’s gotten better in each of his last two weeks. And he gets the Falcons on Sunday. QB Kyle Orton should look his way often.

Justin Fargas

He got dropped in a number of leagues, and we think it goes without saying that he’s worth the pick-up. We’d even prefer him over De’Angelo Williams. Yes, we know he job shares, too. Yes, we know he’s injury-prone. But his explosiveness makes him attractive, as does Darren McFadden’s injury issues. If D Mac misses time, it’ll be Fargas seeing most of the touches.

Kevin Faulk

It’s a good week for running backs that did well but who may possibly never score again for the rest of the season. Faulk emerged this past weekend as the go-to guy for the Pats, especially near the end zone. He should continue to play that role, due to the fact that Sammy Morris has been ineffective and Laurence Maroney has been non-exixtent.

So there you have it, five fixes. If bye weeks have you hurting, then these players might ease the pain. Good luck!
